Barbara Hammer's NITRATE KISSES • Kate Clark's QUEEN'S CIRCLE
In accordance with the suggestions of Social Distancing, we've decided to postpone this event. In conversations with Bread & Salt, and the artist Kate Clark, everyone agrees that we must take this situation seriously and do our best to prevent the spread of COVID-19. We plan to host this event sometime in the future. Please be careful. Take care of yourself, and do your best to slow the spread of this virus.
"Barbara Hammer weaves striking images of four contemporary gay and lesbian couples with footage of an unearthed, forbidden, and invisible history, searching eroded emulsions and images for lost vestiges of queer culture. Questions of historic representation are examined through addressing the margins, between-the-line readings, and images outside of prescribed textual boundaries."
"As part of the project Queen’s Circle, over two years [Kate Clark] interviewed drag queens, dykes, madames, leather daddies, police officers, defense lawyers, health officials, adult actors, politicians, and park rangers about their relationship to the surveillance, management, and celebration of LGBTQ hookup culture in Balboa Park, San Diego, California."
